There are some things that I am good at, and some things that I am absolutely not.
I am not good at remembering names, for instance. Many times, I would bump into someone that I know I know but whose name I cannot recall. I am not good at dancing. I do my version of swinging this way and that, and when all else fails, I just sort of jump around, bopping my head for good measure. I cannot whistle if my life depended on it. And I am not very good with directions, which is why I am very good at getting lost.
On many occasions, I have found myself lost: in the streets of Macau while looking for a coffee shop, in Greenhills in search of a house, at NLEX praying for an exit. I have many, many stories of getting lost somewhere out there, but I always get found, so there, happy ending.
My most recent getting lost story had us going through Manila's dimly-lit streets, where majority of the street signs have been defaced, I might add.
I heard that Chef Chris Locher had relocated from Pampanga to Manila, in some hotel in Paco Park. Since I still remember how good his panizza tasted at C' Italia, I dragged D to Manila. Of course, I didn't know where Paco Park was. And I didn't know where Hotel Oasis was. Fortunately, D had a map and after a couple of turns and much joking and laughter, we finally found it!! And this is what welcomed us...
It was as good as I remembered it, perhaps because it took us awhile to get there. We had the audacity to order some salad and risotto with this hunk of a panizza, and ended up bringing home half our order. Oh well, it was just as good the day after.
